Cave Pearls
Formed as calcite rich water drips into their tiny nests, cave pearls must be amongst the most beautiful of all speleothems we could ever encounter - and are certainly a personal favourite of the Winster Cavers. These photographs were taken in caves, and mines throughout the UK - don't ask us where though, that's a secret!

These young cave pearls, almost translucent, are probably fairly young. They measure little more tham 5mm accross, and are sitting in a shallow, drippy depression on a small calcite flow. |
