Volcanic Eruptions - Mount Etna, Sicily
Mount Etna is one of Europes most active, and most accessible volcanoes. On average there is an eruption most years - sometimes a very brief episode, sometimes lasting a year or more, and on occasions very spectacular. The Winster Cavers have been lucky enough to witness several eruptions over the years, and we share with you here some of our photographs of eruptions on Mount Etna.

Flank eruption at night

Our first ever glimpse of a volcanic eruption was a flank eruption that opened up towards the top of the Valle del Bove on Mount Etna in 2004. This photo was taken from the garden of the agriturismo we were staying at near Zafferana Etnea. |
