From the Rivière des Remparts the path crosses the road several times before descending the steep walls of the Remparts des Sables via series of steep zig-zags and traversing the 'moonscape' of the Plaine des Sables. This is a view north-east from the crest of the Remparts des Sables towards the Fond de la Rivière de l'Est.
