Volcano trekking in Java, Indonesia
Images from our 2011 volcano trekking adventure across the Indonesian island of Java, visiting Anak Krakatau, Papandayan, the Dieng volcano complex, Gunung Merapi, Gunung Kelud, Gunung Mahameru (Semeru), Mount Bromo, and Kawah Ijen. All this with a day's caving in South Malang thrown in mid-itinerary for good measure!

Evening eruption at Semeru, Java

Shortly after we arrived at Kalimati camp we were enjoying the luxury of tea and biscuits and were treated to this fine view of a small eruption from Semeru just as the sun was about to set. Minutes later the clouds rolled in and we could see virtually nothing for the next hour! |
