Volcano trekking in Java, Indonesia
Images from our 2011 volcano trekking adventure across the Indonesian island of Java, visiting Anak Krakatau, Papandayan, the Dieng volcano complex, Gunung Merapi, Gunung Kelud, Gunung Mahameru (Semeru), Mount Bromo, and Kawah Ijen. All this with a day's caving in South Malang thrown in mid-itinerary for good measure!

There's not much in the way of animal life on the little island of Anak Krakatau, but this young monitor lizard was keen to check out the take-away menu at the campsite. Had it been much larger we would probably have been taking this photograph from farther away! |
