Volcano trekking in Java, Indonesia
Images from our 2011 volcano trekking adventure across the Indonesian island of Java, visiting Anak Krakatau, Papandayan, the Dieng volcano complex, Gunung Merapi, Gunung Kelud, Gunung Mahameru (Semeru), Mount Bromo, and Kawah Ijen. All this with a day's caving in South Malang thrown in mid-itinerary for good measure!

The Dieng volcano complex is popular with tourists. This local earns a decent living there by making these delicious rice flour and fresh coconut waffles/pancakes. Served topped with melted raw cane sugar, it has to be said they are totally irresistible - despite the raw mixture looking disconcertingly like wallpaper paste. |
