Photo Gallery :: Volcanic Eruptions - Mount Etna, Sicily

Mount Etna is one of Europes most active, and most accessible volcanoes. On average there is an eruption most years - sometimes a very brief episode, sometimes lasting a year or more, and on occasions very spectacular. The Winster Cavers have been lucky enough to witness several eruptions over the years, and we share with you here some of our photographs of eruptions on Mount Etna.

As the eruption continued it became more and more spectacular - and it became neccessary to move a little futher away from the crater base. This photo is taken from near the Torre del Filosofo on Mount Etna.
