Volcanic Eruptions - Mount Etna, Sicily
Mount Etna is one of Europes most active, and most accessible volcanoes. On average there is an eruption most years - sometimes a very brief episode, sometimes lasting a year or more, and on occasions very spectacular. The Winster Cavers have been lucky enough to witness several eruptions over the years, and we share with you here some of our photographs of eruptions on Mount Etna.

2006 Etna eruption - South East crater

In September 2006 a new Strombolian style eruption started on the South East crater of Mount Etna. This is a night-time shot taken the day the eruption started. |
