Volcanic Eruptions - Mount Etna, Sicily
Mount Etna is one of Europes most active, and most accessible volcanoes. On average there is an eruption most years - sometimes a very brief episode, sometimes lasting a year or more, and on occasions very spectacular. The Winster Cavers have been lucky enough to witness several eruptions over the years, and we share with you here some of our photographs of eruptions on Mount Etna.

The Bottoniera Eruption, Mount Etna - 2008
In 2008 a fresh eruption started towards the North side of Etna - a series of explosive vents called the "Bottoniera" - literally translated as "button hole". Here we are observing, filming and photographing the eruption with our Guide, Marco, from the Alpine Guides hut (http://www.etnaguide.com/ ) |
