Photo Gallery :: Canyoning in La Réunion – Grande Ravine

Having read with great interest about the half-kilometre long lava tube discovered by Pascal Colas in 2004, in the awesome natural amphitheatre of the Grande Ravine near St. Gilles-les-Bains on the Western side of La Réunion, we were intrigued by the concept of a 240m abseil with a serious sea view and a cave part way down! By chance we secured a couple of places to join a small group on an unusual trip to both canyon and cave with canyoning specialists Ricaric. These photos tell the story.... Little did we know that the entire trip, from start to finish, was to be filmed by a Réunionnais television crew! Unfortunately, we’ve been unable to contact the two guys in question (Franck and Arnaud) to find out if and when the finished result has ever been publicly aired. Shown here are some of the highlights of our unforgettable day out at the Grotte de la Grande Ravine.
